Park Hotel Review

This four-story hotel facing the Jardins de la Ville offers well-furnished, soundproof rooms. Although the Park is solid and reliable, it is the town's second choice, having none of the glamour of Villa Duflot . Midsize to spacious bedrooms are comfortably furnished with taste but not much flair; each comes with an average-size bathroom.

The restaurant, Le Chapon Fin, serves up first-class Mediterranean cuisine. The food, made from prime regional produce, is some of the finest in the area. Post-nouvelle choices include roast sea scallops flavored with succulent sea urchin velouté (white sauce thickened with white roux), various lobster dishes, and penne with truffles. As an accompaniment, try one of the local wines -- perhaps a Collioure or Côtes du Roussillon. The hotel also houses Le Bistrot du Park, a less expensive eatery specializing in seafood.

Facilities:
2 restaurants; 2 bars; babysitting; pool (outdoor); room service

About Our System

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.

Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.

The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
