Frommer's Review
This 1897 hotel in Perth's downtown West End was restored to its gold rush-era looks in 1997 and updated again in 2003, though the interior is looking a bit tired now. The exterior retains its original appearance with ornate first-floor balcony, but the interior has been lifted to 21st-century standards while still retaining the restaurant's superb plaster ceiling and tall mirrors, the elegant timber staircase, and original paneled elevator. Suites are a large single room with sitting area. Go for the outside rooms which open onto the wide veranda, and have a drink in the atmospheric street-front Melbourne Bar.
