Parmelia Hilton Hotel Review

Perth's first 5-star hotel and still one of the best. If you want a city-center hotel with style, this is it. It's steps from the Perth Convention Centre, with the Swan River not far away. The elegant marble foyer has a brass plaque commemorating the SS Parmelia, which brought 150 of the first settlers to these shores. The river views have mostly been built out, so ask for rooms from the seventh floor upward (no extra charge). The hotel has subtly striped wallpaper throughout, the spacious standard rooms and deluxe rooms are decorated in cool relaxing shades, while the suites boast separate living, working, and dining areas. Soft furnishings have been replaced since the last refurbishment in 1999. There is key-card elevator access. The Globe Restaurant has one of Perth's most innovative menus, and hosts regular fashion and winemaker events.

Facilities:
2 restaurants; 3 bars; outdoor heated pool; gym and sauna; concierge; airport shuttle; business center; meeting rooms; secretarial service; salon; room service; babysitting service; laundry/valet service; dry cleaning; luggage hold

About Our System

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.

Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.

The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
