Dining in Perugia is polarized: There are several worthy fine restaurants and plenty of cheap pizzerie supported by the vast student population, but very few trattorie in between. The local cuisine includes a secondo called torello alla Perugina (veal scallops served under liver pâté) that deserves sampling. Of the pizzerie, the best is Il Segretto di Pulcinella, Via Large 8, off Via Bonazzi (tel. 075-573-6284). Pizzas are 4€ to 7€ ($5.20-$9.10). It's open Tuesday through Sunday from 12:10 to 2:30pm and 8:30pm to midnight.
