Joe and Aggie's ReviewIn 1943, Joe and Aggie MontaƱo opened this restaurant, and today a third generation of the family continues to operate their popular eatery at the same Route 66 location. It's a friendly, down-home place, with plenty of historic Route 66 charm. Recommended at breakfast are the chili-cheese omelet and the egg burro (scrambled eggs with hash browns and cheese rolled in a flour tortilla). At lunch and dinner you can select from Mexican platters, traditional American dishes, and combinations of both, such as a Mexican hamburger steak with red or green chile. For a sort of Mexican pizza, try the cheese crisp -- a deep-fried flour tortilla with melted cheese and toppings such as green chile and taco meat. | 3 stars | Frommer's Exceptional |
Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
