Frommer's Review
The Merriam, belonging to the University of the Arts, hosts many of Broadway's top touring shows such as Chicago and Thoroughly Modern Millie. Popular artists like Patti LaBelle and Mandy Patinkin perform there, as does the Gilbert and Sullivan International Festival. The Merriam is an ornate turn-of-the-20th-century hall with 1,668 seats. During the vaudeville era, Al Jolson took the stage here.
