Frommer's Review
Set above an old-school Italian restaurant is an old-school, slightly less Italian discothèque. Monte Carlo rides the fine line between feeling like a European dance club -- complete with a DJ who interjects slows into a repertoire of Top 40 dance tracks -- and feeling like Uncle Johnny's retirement party. If you take your techno seriously -- or if you're looking to network -- this is not the place for you. If, on the other hand, you enjoy the freedom that comes with not having to impress anyone, you might want to drag a few friends along. There's usually a cover, but the bouncer will let you upstairs to check out the crowd before you commit.
