Built in 1934 as a girls' school, El Chorro is a Valley landmark and one of the area's last traditional fine-dining establishments. Even if the interior is a little dowdy, at nighttime the lights twinkle on the saguaro cactus, and the restaurant takes on a timeless tranquillity. The adobe building houses several dining rooms, but the patio is the place to be, especially on cool evenings when a fire crackles in the fireplace. The menu features such classics as chateaubriand, rack of lamb, and lobster, and the many steaks are popular. Save room for the legendary sticky buns.
