This place is as far from a typical Phoenix/Scottsdale dining experience as you can get without going to the airport and getting on a plane, and that's exactly why I love it. Set at the back of a shady pecan grove not far from South Mountain Park, Quiessence is surrounded by organic vegetable gardens. It is these gardens, and the freshness of the ingredients they provide, that makes the food here so wonderful, but it is the delightfully rural setting that makes Quiessence truly special. The herbed chicken here is so good you'll forget that it's actually good for you. Don't pass it up if it's on the menu. Oh, and by the way, the desserts are outrageous!
