Frommer's Review
If you're young and hip and looking for a stylish yet casual place in downtown Phoenix, the Clarendon is a great choice. The Clarendon recently got an extreme makeover that has turned it into a hip hangout for young, style-conscious travelers. Guest rooms are fitted with contemporary furniture, including red microsuede headboards and bedside stands and desks that are topped with cool-blue glass tops. The coolest features, though, are the window "blinds," which are actually wood panels painted with abstract art. The paintings slide on industrial-grade pipes. In the hotel's central courtyard, a hot tub and small pool are surrounded by a patio deck that has been painted cobalt blue. The restaurant and cocktail bar are designed to appeal to young nightclubbers and fashionistas.
