Mei Jia Hui fast food (tel. 0771/853-3996) is opposite the main indoor market, just over the river, and can be spotted by its big yellow FAST FOOD sign. They serve a tasty Chinese-style buffet that is dished out on metal trays along with soup and boiled rice for ¥5 (65¢/35p), ¥7 (90¢/45p), or ¥10 ($1.30/65p) depending on how many different items you select.

The large wet market has a wide range of noodle stores as well as a few fresh fruit juice places that will knock up a quick orange and lemon or passion-fruit juice for just ¥1 to ¥2 (15¢-25¢/10p-15p). There is also a lady close by who will put together Vietnamese-style pork sandwiches that are useful as a packed lunch on a day trip to Huashan -- she is up by the bridge to the poultry market.
