The location at the northern reaches of Quinta Avenida’s tourist zone may be the only reason there’s ever an empty seat at the Swiss-owned “Monkey’s Cave”—which is indeed designed as a cave and has monkeys, mostly of fabric and wicker, in unlikely places. The relaxed, retro-hippie vibe and natural foods have earned a loyal following for more than 10 years and is especially popular for breakfast—a mix of huevos motuleños, chilaquiles and other Mexican standards, international favorites such as crepes and French toast, and an enticing array of fresh juices and blended drinks. Lunch and dinner menus include delicious fish, seafood, and chicken prepared with achiote sauce, xcatic chilies, hibiscus flowers, mole and other Mexican ingredients.
