A little slice of paradise, Amor de Mar is a large house perched on a high spot of land that runs down to a rocky outcropping hiding a small natural swimming pool carved into the coral stones. Between this pool and the rooms is a broad lawn and a small grove of mango trees and coconut palms strung with hammocks. The rooms themselves are comfortable and pretty, awash in varnished hardwoods, with large windows (though they vary greatly in size and location; the prized choices are those on the second floor, especially those with ocean-view balconies). Beside and behind the main hotel building lie Casa Luna and Casa Sol, two separate two-story, fully equipped villas perfect for families and small groups. The trailhead to Montezuma’s famous waterfall is directly across the dirt street from Amor de Mar, and it’s a short walk into town. The in-house restaurant is open only for breakfast and lunch.
