Playa de Jacó is the central Pacific's party town, with tons of bars and several discos. Disco La Central is packed every night of the high season and every weekend during the off season. La Central is right on the beach near the south end of town. There's a huge open-air hall that features the requisite 1970s flashing lights and suspended mirrored ball, as well as a garden bar in a thatch-roofed building that's a slightly quieter place to have a drink. The disco charges a nominal cover charge. Other popular bars in town are the Beatle Bar, Club Olé, Jungle Bar and Monkey Bar. All of the aforementioned bars are located along the main strip through town. Note: There's a good amount of prostitution in Jacó. It's not uncommon to find working women at any of the above-mentioned places, as well as cruising other bars around town.
For a more casual atmosphere, head to either Los Amigos or Tabacón. Los Amigos has nightly movies projected on a large outdoor wall, while Tabacón has popular pool and foosball tables, and often has live music.
Sports freaks can catch the latest games at Clarita's Beach Bar & Grill, Hotel Copacabana, or Hotel Poseidon. The last serves up good, reasonably priced burritos, burgers, and other assorted bar food.
If you're into gaming, head to the Stellaris Casino at the Los Sueños Marriott resort or the Jazz Casino (tel. 643-2316), located at the Hotel Amapola. The latter is a modest casino situated toward the southern end of the main road through Jacó (Av. Pastor Díaz), about a block beyond where it takes a sharp turn inland toward the Costanera Sur.
