Playa del Coco is one of Costa Rica's liveliest beach towns after dark. On the road into town, you'll find the Lizard Lounge, which has a popular pool table and a laid-back tropical vibe. For a more European style, check out Zouk Santana, which often has a DJ spinning electronic dance and lounge music. Finally, for a Middle Eastern-inspired mellow lounge scene, head to the new Kashbar, in the Pueblito shopping center. On the south end of the beach, you'll find La Vida Loca a lively beachfront bar, with a pool table, Ping-Pong table, and foosball table, as well as occasional live bands.
Cocomar is the main disco in town. It's just off the little park fronting the beach. (If these directions don't get you there, just follow the loud music.) The Café de Playa often has live music and concerts, with major acts from San José, as well as local talent filling the bills. Finally, if you want to test your luck, head to the casino at the Coco Bay Hotel & Casino.
