Other than walking on the beach, surfing, swimming when the surf isn't too strong, and exploring tide pools, there isn't much to do here -- which is just fine with me. This beach is ideal for anyone who wants to relax without any distractions. Bring a few good books. You can rent bikes at the Iguanazul Hotel , which is a good way to get up and down to the beach; horseback-riding tours are also popular. If you have a car you explore the coastline just north and south of here, as well.
For surfers, the beach break right in Junquillal is often pretty good. I've also heard that if you look hard enough, there are a few hidden reef and point breaks around.
Several sportfishing boats operate out of Playa Junquillal. Inquire at your hotel or ask at the Iguanazul Hotel. If you want to rent a mountain bike, you can also check in at the Iguanazul. If you want to ride a horse on the beach, call Paradise Riding (tel. 2658-8162).
Finally, if you want to do some diving, check in with Micke and Maarten at El Lugarcito (tel./fax 2658-8436). With advance notice, these folks offer day trips to the Catalina Islands, as well as resort and full-certification courses.
