This fanciful hotel is a tropical rendition of a classic medieval castle (well, sort of). Ramparts and a turret with a rooftop bar certainly grab the attention of passersby. Guest rooms are fairly small, although rates are fair. Ask for an upstairs room with a balcony. If you don't get one of these, you'll still have a good view from the hotel's rooftop bar, which sometimes features live music, from Latin folk to reggae. The hotel is on a hillside, about 500m (1,640 ft.) from the beach.
