It isn't right on the beach, but this is one of the more luxurious and stylish hotels in Tamarindo. The French owners bring a touch of sophistication that's often lacking at beach hotels in Costa Rica. There are splendid views from many of the guest rooms, which are in Mediterranean-style buildings on a hill 136m (446 ft.) from and high above the beach. Most have been remodeled in the past few years, and there are a couple dozen new rooms to boot. Almost all have balconies or private terraces with views of the Pacific. The large stone-tiled terraces, in particular, give you the sense that you're staying at your own private villa.
