Frommer's Review
This bistro/cafe is one of the best dining choices on the island, just as good as the stellar Le Château de Feuilles. Owners Marie and Sylvan Serrouart serve their creative cuisine at a point on the road connecting St.-François with Pointe des Châteaux. The restaurant has a colorful West Indian decor, an open-air kitchen, and English-language menus. Don't come here in a rush, as food is cooked to order and the service is, well, relaxed. Mellow out at the bar, with its selection of nearly two dozen rum punches, including one flavored with cinnamon. A novelty drink comes from a large jar of rum with several hibiscus flowers floating inside. On the creative and varied menu, begin with a delectable sheep's cheese appetizer, battered in a crust with zesty Creole spices. You might also opt for the goose-liver pâté or a napoleon of sweet breads and lobster. We always gravitate to the fresh fish of the day, perhaps snapper, aromatically cooked in a puff pastry, or John Dory with Indian spices. Also good is caramelized chicken cooked in coconut milk and steamed fish flavored with five spices, the sweetbreads, and shrimp in saffron sauce.
