For such a popular resort area, nightlife is mostly confined to bars. Other entertainment options are sporadic, including offerings at the Havana Café, Village Créole, Pointe du Bout (tel. 596/66-15-93). Live entertainment is also featured on occasion at La Casa de Da Paulette, Village Créole, Pointe du Bout (tel. 596/66-15-15). This bar is set in a typical old Creole cottage and can be a lot of fun if the crowd is right. L'Amphore, a piano and karaoke bar, is found at the rear of Sofitel Bakoua, Pointe du Bout (tel. 596/66-03-09).
At presstime, Martinique had one of the dullest casinos in the Caribbean, Casino des Trois-Ilets. It's positioned on the lobby level of a grim, hulking building that once functioned as the centerpiece of a resort that was otherwise closed (Le Kalenda Resort, Trois-Ilets, Pointe du Bout; tel. 596/66-00-30). Slot machines, for which entrance is free, are available daily 10am to 3am. Roulette and les grands jeux (roulette and blackjack), for which there's an entrance charge of 11€ ($14), and for which a visitor must present ID or a passport, are open nightly from 9pm to 3am.
Look for a replacement of this casino, perhaps during the lifetime of this edition. At the time of writing, a new venue was under construction as a self-contained outbuilding of the Le Kalenda resort, but no official opening date had been announced either for the casino or the resort that contains it.
