Frommer's Review
This green and sunny hillside -- once said to shelter goblins -- is now filled with Georgian-style vacation homes within a neighborhood to the northeast of Port Antonio known as San San Estate. The pool is surrounded by a vine-laced arbor, which lies just a stone's throw from an almost impenetrable forest. A long flight of steps leads down to the crescent-shaped sands of San San Beach. This beach is now private, but guests of the hotel receive a pass. Everything has the aura of having last been redesigned in the 1970s, but the resort is still comfortable, albeit just a bit faded and dated. The accommodations are town house-style; some have ceiling fans and king-size beds (some have twin beds), but none have phones and overall, there's a lingering suspicion of the dowdiness of yesteryear. Accommodations are roomy and filled with handmade pinewood furniture, each with a split-level living and dining area with a fully equipped kitchen. All units have well-maintained bathrooms with shower-tub combinations. Housekeepers prepare and serve meals and attend to chores within each individual villa. Some residual damage from the hurricane of 2004 is still visible, but overall, the resort is up, running, and competent. Know in advance that there's no working restaurant on-site, a fact that places special emphasis on guests preparing, usually with the assistance of the housekeepers, meals within their individual accommodations.
