Hotels

Port Hardy has several well-worn hotel complexes. The lodgings recommended here are significantly more attractive than most of the alternatives, so reserve well in advance, especially on days when the ferries run. Likewise, most restaurants in Port Hardy are very basic. The hotel restaurant suggested isn't fancy, but it's better than the alternatives.

The Wildwoods Campsite, Forestry Road (tel. 250/949-6753; www.wildwoodscampsite.com), is off the road to the ferry terminal. The 60 sites offer fire pits, hot showers, toilets, beach access, and moorage for C$15 to C$20. Tenters will like the wooded sites at Quatse River Campground, 5050 Hardy Rd. (tel. 250/949-2395; www.quatsecampground.com), with 62 sites at C$20 to C$25.
