Frommer's Review
This imposing Queen Anne-style Victorian inn is located in the Irvington District, a fairly quiet residential neighborhood 1 block off Northeast Broadway. It's a good choice if you want to keep your driving to a minimum. Restaurants, cafes, eclectic boutiques, and a huge shopping mall are all within 4 blocks. Even without the splendid location, the inn would be a gem. Guest rooms each have a distinct decor. In the Lavonna Room, there are bright colors and a turret sitting area, while in the deep green Starina Room you'll find an imposing Edwardian bed and armoire. Both the Garden Room and the Lavonna Room have claw-foot tubs in their bathrooms; other bathrooms are cramped but attractive. If you have problems climbing stairs, ask for the ground floor's Rose Room, which has a whirlpool tub. Breakfasts are sumptuous affairs, great for lingering.
