Frommer's Review
This family-run member of the Relais & Châteaux group is the place to stay on the Amalfi Coast: One of the best hotels in the country, it affords luxurious accommodations and exceptionally professional service in a wonderful location just outside Positano by Laurito Beach. Elegant public areas have French windows opening onto the garden and the sea; spacious guest rooms are decorated with antiques, tiled floors, and pink-marble bathrooms. All have private terrace and some have huge picture windows. The hotel's private beach is accessible by elevator whenever you get tired of the splendid panoramic swimming pool or the tennis court, and the state-of-the-art fitness center has a wonderful spa. Note: The hotel welcomes children only age 10 and above.
The Michelin-rated Il San Pietro is our favorite restaurant on this coast for the postcard views, cozy terrace, garden, and exceptional food: Chef Alois Vanlangenacker uses local ingredients -- mostly from the hotel's own farm -- to create sophisticated yet simple concoctions: We need to mention at least the unique pollo ruspante in crosta di agrumi (free-range chicken in a citrus crust). The restaurant is closed November through March and reservations are required.

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
