My favorite choice above Wenceslas Square in Vinohrady, Bonante is especially great for shunning the cold of an autumn or winter evening near the roaring fire in the brick-cellar dining room. As its name suggests, this place is a bridge between French cuisine and other Continental foods. You can start with a fish soup with salmon and mussels, or deep-fried jalapeños. There are several vegetarian and low-calorie chicken-based selections. Jazz combos play on most nights from a small stage in the corner. When reserving, ask for a table within view of, but not too close to, the fireplace. If you do break into a sweat, it's not because of the check, as Bonante provides one of the best values in a full-service restaurant in Prague.
