Frommer's Review
In the early years after the 1989 revolution, for many expats, U Vejvodu kept the spirit of a grimy student/workers pub alive in Old Town -- dark, smoky, and noisy, with plenty of Pilsner beer flowing for just a couple of crowns. It was only a matter of time that this 15th-century building, "At the Duke's," became the subject of corporate interest for its space, history, and prime location. The brewers of Pilsner have moved in with row upon row of well-tended tables and booths among the alcoves and balconies, along with big-screen TVs showing the latest Czech sports triumph, and a wider range of cuisine beyond the pigs knuckle and pickled eggs of yesteryear. Open Monday to Saturday 10am to 4am and Sunday 11am to 3pm.
