With both Eugene O'Neill and Tennessee Williams as one-time residents, Provincetown went far too long without a state-of-the-art theater. The town had no dedicated theater from 1977, when the venerable Playhouse on the Wharf was destroyed by fire, until 2004, when this 200-seat venue was completed. The home of two local acting troupes, Provincetown Theatre Company and Provincetown Repertory Theater, the building also serves as a concert hall, dance studio, cinema, and meetinghouse. Credit cards are accepted at the theater, which is open year-round. Tickets can be purchased from Ptown Tix (located at 209 Commercial St. at the Aquarium Marketplace), at the box office, or online.
