The Brigham Young University Theatre, on the BYU campus (tel. 801/422-4322), presents more than a dozen theatrical productions each year.
From summer through early fall, you can see live musicals and concerts under the stars at the SCERA Shell Theatre, 699 S. State St., in SCERA Park, Orem (tel. 801/225-2569; www.scera.org). The season usually includes several locally produced Broadway musicals, plus a variety of concerts, from pop to country to classical.
Wiseguys Comedy Club, 1350 W. 1140 South, Suite 110 (tel. 801/377-6910; www.wiseguyscomedy.com), is a popular place for stand-up. Shows usually start at 9pm on Friday and Saturday. No alcohol is served. At Atchafalaya, 210 W. Center St. (tel. 801/373-9014), the bar area hosts live bands, DJs, and karaoke in a Bourbon Street atmosphere. The adjacent cafe serves Louisiana Cajun cuisine. Nearby is another BYU haunt and rock venue, A. Beuford Gifford's Libation Emporium, 190 W. Center St. (tel. 801/373-1200).
