You'll find shops everywhere in Pucón, but the best are on Fresia Street. One here stands out: the DOMO, Fresia 224, local 2 (tel. 45/444548), a small gift shop specializing in preselected items from all over Chile, such as copper, wood, ceramics, alpaca, archaeological, Mapuche, and wool products.
If you're staying in Pucón longer than a few days and you'd like to learn a little of the local lingo, try Language Pucón, Uruguay 306 (tel. 45/444967; www.languagepucon.com), which offers short but effective courses and home-stay opportunities. They also have a good book exchange in English and German.
Hot Springs Outside Pucón -- All the volcanic activity in the region means there's plenty of baños termales, or hot springs, that range from rustic rock pools to full-service spas with massage and saunas. Nothing beats a soothing soak after a long day packed with adventure. Also, like the Cañi Reserve, the hot springs make for a good rainy-day excursion. Our recommendations are listed under "Hotels".
