It’s a surprise to find a cozy little inn hidden in the back of a gift store. Even more startling is the quality of the rooms, which have an elan that’s rare. Painted in vibrant colors and featuring artful, oversized photos of the faces of the owners’ two children (sounds weird, I know, but the kids are gorgeous and the photos gallery-quality), they feature arched brick bobeva ceilings, comfortable beds and pieces of North African art here and there (the owners are from Mallorca, Spain but have traveled widely). Up on the roof is a lovely lounge area that looks like it was lifted from an oasis in Morocco, and an honor bar. One word of warning: the rooms that are right on the street can get loud, so ask for a room in the back if you’re a light sleeper.
