At night, the stately Casino Puerto Varas, Del Salvador 021 (tel. 65/346600; www.plazacasino.cl), gives visitors a chance to depart with their travel money (or hopefully win enough for a hotel upgrade) via slot machines and gaming tables offering blackjack, baccarat, roulette, and more. The gaming salon is open daily from noon to 7am, the slot machine floor from noon to 5am, and every Monday the minimum bet drops to $1.50 (75p), roulette to 30¢ (15p). The casino's bar and restaurants are open from noon to 4am, if you're looking for a midnight snack.
