Frommer's Review
Located in Qingdao's commercial center, this hotel is a top-notch choice for visitors who don't mind spending the extra cash. The rooms are spacious and have carefully designed lighting fixtures and bathrooms. The hotel is cozier and more stylish than the Crowne Plaza , but often more expensive. Offering the full range of facilities and fine dining, the signature Shangri-La luxury is still very much in evidence here, though service is not up to par with the brand's other Chinese locations. The Western buffet is excellent. By the time you read this, the hotel's expansion -- a giant 20-story building -- should be complete, bumping up the total number of rooms to 696. Rooms in the new building will be about double the size of those currently on offer.
Facilities: 2 restaurants; bakery; bar; lounge; indoor pool; outdoor tennis court; health club and spa; Jacuzzi; sauna; concierge; airport shuttle service; business center; forex; shopping arcade; salon; room service; massage; babysitting; same-day laundry/dry cleaning; newsstand; nonsmoking rooms; executive rooms.

| 0 stars | Frommer's Recommended | |
| 1 stars | Frommer's Highly Recommended | |
| 2 stars | Frommer's Very Highly Recommended | |
| 3 stars | Frommer's Exceptional |
Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
