Québec has not had a team in any of the major professional leagues since the NHL Nordiques left in 1995, but since 1999, it has been represented by Les Capitales de Québec (Québec Capitales; www.capitalesdequebec.com), a baseball club in the Can-Am League. Home games happen at Stade Municipal (Municipal Stadium), 100 rue du Cardinal Maurice-Roy (tel. 877/521-2244 or 418/521-2255), not far beyond the St-Roch neighborhood. General-admission tickets cost C$8 (£4), and the top loge seat is C$14 (£7).
Horse races were set to take place at the refurbished and renamed Sulky Québec, 250 bd. Wilfrid-Hamel (tel. 418/524-5283; www.attractionshippiques.com). Its parent company, Attractions Hippiques, invested more than C$23 million into the facility, which was inaugurated in December 2007. But financial troubles suspended racing at the track in 2008. Check to find out what's going on there before making plans to visit.
