First established on Beach Street, Vudu Café now has a cafe and larder on Rees Street that’s bigger and brighter. Breakfast is a hearty workout here; for example, poached eggs come on whacking great slices of granary bread with perfectly grilled halloumi cheese and radish salad. Lunch may be a free-range lamb shoulder shepherd's pie or a vegetable and pinenut kofta. The ordering system is slightly fiddly—you have to quickly read the menu, quickly make a decision, then quickly find a table holding on to your number. But it works. It's open for breakfast, lunch, and tea.
