In the summer, the tourist office organizes a 90-minute walking tour of the city (des circuits de ville). It costs 5.20€. Tours in French depart daily at 10:30am from in front of the tourist office; tours in English start at 2pm on Tuesday and Friday only.

In some quarters, Quimper maintains its old-world atmosphere, with footbridges spanning the rivers. At place St-Corentin is the Cathédrale St-Corentin (tel. 02-98-95-06-19), characterized by two towers that climb 75m (246 ft.). The cathedral was built from the 13th to the 15th century; the spires were added in the 19th. Inside, note the 15th-century stained glass. It's open May to October daily 9:30am to 1:30pm and 2 to 6:30pm, November to April Monday to Saturday 9am to noon and daily 1:30 to 6:30pm.

Also on the square is the Musée des Beaux-Arts, 40 place St-Corentin (tel. 02-98-95-45-20). The collection includes work by Rubens, Boucher, Fragonard, and Corot, plus an exceptional exhibit from the Pont-Aven school (Bernard, Sérusier, Lacombe, Maufra, Denis). Admission is 4.50€ for adults, 2.50€ for ages 12 to 26, and free for children 11 and under. The museum is open July and August daily from 10am to 7pm; April to June and September and October, Monday and Wednesday to Sunday 10am to noon and 2 to 6pm; and November to March, Monday and Wednesday to Saturday 10am to noon and 2 to 6pm, Sunday 2 to 6pm.

Musée Departemental Breton, 1-3 rue Roi Gradlon (tel. 02-98-95-21-60), is in the medieval Palais des Eveques de Cornouailles (Palace of the Bishops of Cornwall), adjacent to the cathedral. The museum showcases the evolution of Breton costumes, with examples of local handicrafts, archaeology, and furniture. It is open June through September daily 9am to 6pm, November through May Tuesday to Saturday 9am to noon and daily 2 to 5pm. Admission is 4€ for adults, 2.50€ for ages 18 to 25, and free for children 17 and under.
