Frommer's Review
The Dann Carlton is probably the only high-rise in all of Quito to have more brick than glass. It's not brash or flashy, but rather understated and elegant. It bills itself as a boutique hotel because it offers all the charm and personal service that you'd find at a small hotel, although the Dann Carlton does have over 200 rooms. The accommodations are quite spacious and come with dark-wood furnishings, built-in closets, CD players, and subtle green, earthy tones. The marble bathrooms are sparkling. Rooms at the back of the hotel, especially those on the higher floors, have sumptuous views of the city, El Panecillo, Parque La Carolina, and the volcanoes. The location is a tiny bit out of the way, but the neighborhood is nice and the huge Parque La Carolina is just outside the door. Don't despair if you don't have your laptop to take advantage of the free Wi-Fi; every guest gets 30 free minutes of Internet time in the well-equipped business center. These folks offer free airport pickup and drop-off, too. The newest addition here is a casino.
