Hotels

For a capital city, Rabat offers a very limited range of quality accommodations. Most of the international chains are here, but they can be disappointing for the price they charge. At the other end of the scale, there is a plethora of budget-priced accommodations, which are frequented more by rural and up-country Moroccans than travelers. Here I've recommended those that offer at least some character, good value for money, or both. The compactness of Rabat's medina and adjacent centre ville lessens the importance of the location of your accommodations, with most sights and restaurants within walking distance. It's always worth trying to prebook your accommodations here, or at least arrive early in the day, as hotels begin to fill up during the afternoon with a steady stream of overnighters. Very few people -- Moroccans or travelers -- stay in Rabat for longer than 1 night.
