Frommer's Review
Set on 8 hectares (20 acres) of landscaped gardens, this still has the edge on the new Aman property (never underestimate the lure of a pool). The tent rooms are not as safari-like as those at Aman-i-Khas, and the overall outdoor setting not quite as back-to-nature, but they are nevertheless gorgeous, featuring huge canvas roofs shot through with gold sparkles, teak floors, solid walls hung with artwork, opulent Indo-colonial furnishings, and all the modern conveniences you could possibly need. Bathrooms are the sizes of most hotel rooms and have free-standing claw-foot tubs, fabulous showers, and doors leading out to private terraces with comfortable day beds on which to rest after plundering the well-stocked minibars. With each generous tent surrounded by a small walled garden, the property does sprawl somewhat, forcing a rather long walk to the pool or restaurant (you can, of course, call for a golf cart) and, unlike Sher Bagh and Aman-i-Khas, the well-manicured surroundings give you little sense of being on the edge of a wilderness. But the superb service, great dining (either in the restaurant or adjacent courtyard), excellent spa, and sheer opulence of the public spaces more than make up for this. Best of all is the opportunity to sit in on one of the regular lectures given by Fateh Singh Rathore, the man who put Ranthambhore on the map, not to mention the bliss of a sparkling pool.
