This sophisticated cafe with an open kitchen and both indoor and outdoor seating brings a glimpse into local cuisine. The "Paw Paw Catch" of fresh fish seared and served under Hollandaise sauce over a bed of onions, coconut milk, and rukau (taro leaves) is a bit unusual to novice tongues, but it's a fine example of Cook Islander home cooking. Otherwise the menu tends to more familiar steaks, fish, pastas, and Thai-style chicken or vegetable curry. Be sure to check the daily specials board. The beachside Sunday night barbecue here is the best on the island (come early for happy hour from 6 to 7pm). Note that the Paw Paw is open for breakfast and dinner but not for lunch.
