Frommer's Review
Three hurricanes which struck back-to-back early in 2005 caused many properties here to not just repair but to improve. None did more upgrades than the Crown Beach, which emerged as Rarotonga's top small full-service hotel. You will be greeted over marble floors in a thatched-roof building holding reception, an air-conditioned exercise room, and a business center. From there pathways lead through a sandy coconut grove to a swimming pool -- with rock waterfall -- beside Oceans bar and restaurant, serving breakfast and lunch, and a full-service spa. The best of the bungalows, or "villas" as they are known here, are the beachfront units with hot tubs on their covered front porches. Others face the swimming pool, while the least expensive are garden units between reception and Oceans restaurant. All units have separate bedrooms. Honeymooners and romance-seeking couples make up the bulk of the guests, although you can bring children under 18 with advance permission. The fine Windjammer Restaurant resides by the road here.
