Zagol

This cheerful restaurant just east of downtown has a steadily increasing following. Reno's first and only foray into Ethiopian cuisine, Zagol serves traditional fare expertly seasoned with exotic spices to create authentic beef, chicken, lamb, and vegetarian dishes. The zilzil tibs, made from long strips of tender beef sautéed lightly in purified herbal butter and seasoned with onion and fresh rosemary, are especially flavorsome. Zagol also offers a fine selection of traditional Ethiopian beverages, from honey wines to hearty Ethiopian beer. All dishes are served "family style" and sans silverware. The staff will happily instruct patrons in the art of scooping up the tasty morsels using just Injera -- a traditional Ethiopian flatbread made from teff flour. They will, however begrudgingly, provide silverware upon request.
