Frommer's Review
This is the most sophisticated hotel on Puerto Rico, and it's one of the most exclusive and elegant small properties anywhere in the Caribbean. It was built on the massive breakwaters and seawalls erected by a local railroad many years ago. Guests here enjoy a secluded, semiprivate beach; this narrow strip of golden sand is choice, if small.
The hacienda evokes an aristocratic Spanish villa, with wicker armchairs, hand-painted tiles, ceiling fans, seaside terraces, and cascades of flowers. This is really a restful place. Accommodations are in a series of suites that ramble uphill amid lush gardens. The decor is tasteful, with four-poster beds and brass-footed tubs in marble-sheathed bathrooms. Rooms are spacious and luxurious, with Persian rugs over tile floors, queen-size sofa beds in sitting areas, and fine linen. Bathrooms are equally roomy and luxurious. Twenty-eight suites are set at the edge of the property, some with private pools; the Primavera suites, added in 2001, are 1,400-square-foot, two-story town houses, each with two full bathrooms and a private terrace with plunge pool.
The hotel's restaurant, Horned Dorset Primavera, is one of the finest on Puerto Rico.
