The Flamengo offers good basic accommodations with a million-dollar view, all at a reasonable price. Rooms are clean, with two single beds or one double bed (there are only four of these -- two facing the front, two facing the back, so reserve ahead), a small TV, thin carpets, and a clean functional bathroom with showers only. Front-facing rooms offer a gorgeous view over the bay towards the Sugarloaf. Downtown is within walking distance, and the beaches of Copa are a 15-minute Metrô ride away. It makes a fine home base for those who would rather spend their money exploring Rio.
