This charming, unpretentious bistro has counters and service areas accented with lovely displays of fresh fruits and vegetables. The menu -- divided between traditional Sicilian and creative contemporary dishes -- includes orange-infused anchovies served on orange segments, a creamy flan of mild onions and mountain cheese, and seafood couscous loaded with shellfish. The pastas are excellent, particularly the tonnarelli (square-cut spaghetti) with mussels, bacon, tomatoes, and exotic mushrooms. The specialty of the house is caponata di melanzane, chopped eggplant stewed in tomato sauce with onions and potatoes.
