Imàgo ReviewGreat food and a sweeping panorama of Ancient Rome lure patrons to the sixth floor of this deluxe hotel on the Spanish Steps. There's so much talk of the view that it is easy to overlook the superb traditional Italian cuisine. The brilliant chef, Francesco Apreda, a Neapolitan, serves Italian food that's influenced by the rest of the world -- for example, sea bass with a ginger sauce evocative of Thailand. You are likely to see Italy's leader, Silvio Berlusconi, feasting on pheasant ravioli with truffles. Apreda delights guests with such delectable dishes as breaded sea scallops stuffed with mozzarella and black truffles, or fusilloni pasta with a quail ragout. For dessert, why not the Sicilian cannoli filled with mascarpone cheese and pistachios, served with a raspberry and star anise sorbet? | 3 stars | Frommer's Exceptional |
Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
