Expect warmth and hospitality from the minute you walk in the door. The English-speaking staff, who have all been here for years, are the heart and soul of Lancelot, and the reason why the hotel has so many repeat guests. It’s not the room decor certainly, which is simple, a bit dated, and unremarkable (although most of the units are spacious, immaculately kept, and light-filled, thanks to large windows). Ask for the 6th-floor units that have private terraces overlooking Ancient Rome—they’re well worth the 20€ extra you pay. What makes this place truly remarkable are the genteel, chandelier-lit common areas for meeting other travelers, “Room with a View”-style. Unusual for Rome, there’s also private parking for which you’ll need to book ahead.
