This is one of Rothenburg's charming nuggets, without the facilities and physical plant of the Eisenhut, but a winner in its own right. When this hotel was constructed as a customs house in 1264, one of Rothenburg's defensive walls was incorporated into the building. Some rooms have four-poster beds, and about half the bathrooms have tub/shower combos. The individual decorations range from contemporary to antique (Biedermeier or Empire, for example). Dare you ask for a room called an "Oasis of Dreams" done in Laura Ashley? Many guests request room no. 30, a cozy attic retreat. The hotel employs one of the most helpful staffs in town.
