Frommer's Review
This stylish resort is an all-inclusive that was artfully and deliberately conceived as a fun and lively place for couples with older children. Its clubhouse is approached by passing through a park filled with tropical trees and shrubbery. The lobby is the best re-creation of the South Seas on Jamaica, with hanging wicker chairs and totemic columns. There's a minijungle with hammocks and a nearby nude beach, in addition to the lovely stretch of sandy beach right out front. The resort, which lies 3km (1 3/4 miles) east of Paradise Beach and just next door to the town's second best beach, Cardiff Hall, contains 10 hectares (25 acres) that incorporate its own golf course. Its position happens to be astride some of the best scuba diving in Jamaica, lying immediately off the end of the deepwater Cayman trench. Scuba, water-skiing, and golf are all included as part of the all-inclusive price at this resort. Those virtues are offset by the fact that the decor is a bit "aesthetically challenged" and run-down. The overall impression is that of a boxy, low-rise resort that's a bit in need of an overhaul, but permeated with exceptionally good value for anyone interested in otherwise expensive sports such as scuba or golf.
Live music emanates from the stylish Terrace every evening at 7pm, and a nightclub offers live shows 6 nights a week at 10pm. Dine either in the beach-side restaurant or in the more formal Italian restaurant, Pastafari, which is the best. The resort's Starlight Grill has also expanded its menu to include a vegetarian cuisine.
