Hedonism III Review

Following a chain format established in Negril, this latest beachfront Hedonism bills itself as a "truly active (and slightly wicked!) vacation." Though this branch of Hedonism isn't as rowdy and raunchy as the Negril branch -- it's a little more serene and isolated from the action in town -- it's still for the serious party person who likes to drink all night, hang out at the beach all day, and go wild at those toga parties. Set on 6 hectares (15 acres) of landscaped gardens on the eastern end of Runaway Bay, it features ocean views from all rooms and an all-inclusive package deal. Hedonism III has its own private, slightly rocky beach stretching for some 180m (600 ft.); nude sunbathers often use a part of the beach. It lies a 15-minute drive east of Paradise Beach and a 10-minute walk west of Cardiffall. Bedrooms are roomy and freshly decorated, with Jamaica's first-ever block of "swim-up" rooms. Single guests are paired up with a roommate of the same sex, or have to pay a single supplement. Unique in Jamaica, the resort offers a circus workshop that features a flying trapeze, juggling, a trampoline "clinic," and various unicycle and bike-balancing acts.

Facilities: 5 restaurants; 6 bars; 3 large pools; 3 tennis courts; fitness center; basketball court; ice skating rink; rock-climbing; volleyball; 3 Jacuzzis; sauna; kayaks; sailing; scuba diving; snorkeling; water-skiing; windsurfing; game room; room service; dance club; nonsmoking rooms; rooms for those w/limited mobility

About Our System

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.

Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.

The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
