Getting There & Getting Around
Ruse is accessible by train or bus, though we don't recommend that you ride the rails to Ruse or spend any time in its derelict-looking train station. Both terminals are about 2km (1 1/4 miles) south of the center on Borisova Ulitsa and you can catch a trolley (nos. 1, 11, 12, or 18) at either that goes to Ploshtad Svoboda (Liberation Sq.), the city's main gathering place. Avoid the unscrupulous taxi drivers if you can. If you are looking for accommodations, steer clear of "entrepreneurs" advertising rooms for rent and go to Dunav Tours, just southwest of Liberation Square, pl Han Kubrat 5 (tel. 359 082/223 088; Mon-Fri 9am-12:30pm and 1-5:30pm), to secure private accommodations.
